Introduction

Hello There

Papacitos

A familiar scene: laptops & cafes

Hey, hey. Wondering what this blog is all about? You’ve reached a small component (but probably most active) of my website. Maybe this is how you are going to get to know me, as it’ll likely be my rough, unpolished, unedited scribbles & photos. What will I be posting about? No guidelines – anything, really, that comes to mind, as random as it might be – from politics to languages to internet. I predict it’s going to be leftover dialogues from the day: discussions, arguments, reflections, observations. More recently, I’ve been exploring the city’s day/night cultural events & activities and its eclectic neighborhoods. Besides that, my personal interests include: vegan foods, photography, bicycling, festivals, parks, dances, fairs, museums. I eat Mexican, Chinese, or Indian food all the time. Like me? I’m open to any swaps or partnerships. I’m especially interested in any design exchanges or freelance projects! Feel free to reach me.

The Blog

My back-end is powered by Wordpress. My content is generated from a human brain including some updates via Twitter, LastFM and Flickr. I am hosted on Dreamhost, a space donated by Chris Rhee. I have an affinity for big fonts, primary colors, clear white spaces and simplicity.

The Author

I am/Je m’appelle/我叫 Yawen. I am powered by years of web geekery, associated with online applications such as journals/blogs, social networking sites, communities, and other such technologies that complement enriching web experiences. Beyond that, I have a background in media production newspapers, newsletters, magazines, radio broadcasts. Now I am a twenty-something post-graduate (Psychology, A.B.) from Northern California living in New York City. I am continually mesmerized by the city culture it’s wonderfully overwhelming! At the moment I work in web production for a children’s publishing company. In 2008 I’ve interned at internet community start-up Social Sauce and freelanced at educational non-profit Rural Development Leadership Network. I also collaborate on Mushpot Records, handling most website updates, design and back-end stuff. In the future, I plan to travel when I can and study languages; I currently speak 2.5: English, Mandarin-Chinese and French (elementary-intermediate).

The Blog’s Warning/Apology

I am a testing ground, built on a MacBook (Mac OS X, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Version 10.4.11 10.5.2 as of 5/08/08). I am optimized for the latest Safari or Firefox browser; upgrade away! I am currently experimenting with CSS3, JQuery, and perhaps other technologies. Therefore, if anything breaks, it means I am making progress, usually for the better!

The End

Okay, that’s all. I don’t especially have any ending words. Hope you enjoyed your stay? Now you can go back to your Facebook, MySpace, Flickr or something. Or if you’re hip, Social Sauce.
